Digital-VHS Haiku writing process
This piece was part of the "The hanging gardens or the virtuality of the events: Haiku on screen" installation. The musician Shingo Masuda writes a series of Haikus in Kanji. The piece was recorded digitally and transferred to VHS. Through various forms of playback on VHS (reverse, slow motion etc...) the image was sculpted as it was transferred back to digital. The image goes backwards, so Shingo's hand unwrites the Haikus, leaving everything blank again.
